2019 Mid-South Food Bank Volunteering

Folks,

The Malayalee Association of Memphis will be volunteering at the Food Bank on Saturday, August 24 at 9AM.

In the past we have always shown up in big numbers and set records in various categories. Here’s looking forward to seeing you at the Food Bank again. You can sign up for the event here: https://signup.com/go/mSkwdSF
Kindly note the new location of the Food Bank Warehouse:3834 Knight Rd, Memphis TN 38118
  • Volunteers pre-sort food items into food categories, inspect food, and repackage food into case quantity. Your volunteer assignment will be explained to you in further detail during a brief orientation, but there are some things you need to know before you arrive:
    • This is a warehouse. It can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Please dress comfortably. Shorts are acceptable but please no short, shorts, tank/crop tops or hanging jewelry.
    • For your safety you must NOT wear sandals, or flip-flops. Leather shoes/boots or tennis shoes are required. No exceptions. You will be sorting canned goods which cause injury if dropped on bare toes.
    • Please do not bring valuables or purses as the Mid-South Food Bank is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
    • Please do not wear jewelry on fingers or wrists that could slip off while working.
    • Cell phones may not be used in the warehouse and must be turned off while working.
    • If you want to bring a snack or lunch a refrigerator is available for storage. Please label your items.
    • There must be one adult for every five children under age 15, and one adult for every ten children 16 and older. Children under 10 may not volunteer at Mid-South Food Bank and should not accompany adult volunteers.

Volunteers play a significant role in allowing Mid-South Food Bank to operate efficiently. Thank you for helping us to Feed the Need.

Thank you for your support of our MAM activities.
